Digital Disruption 2014

The Internet of Things (IoT) transformation is the next great ICT disruptive event – it will change both social norms and how business is conducted in a new technology framework. These profound impacts can be summarized as follows:

Digital Consumption

With the IoT revolution underway, TM Forum provides a unique, collaborative environment for understanding industry vertical requirements and the new business and technology best practices that digital ecosystems will need to adopt to implement IoT. This will reduce risk and enable innovation in the IoT opportunity, which has an estimated market size of $17 trillion based on connecting over 50 billion devices.

Digital Interaction

TM Forum’s Open Digital Program helps service providers, enterprises and their suppliers succeed in the digital world by making it easier to create, build and operate complex, innovative services. Our goal is to enable an open digital ecosystem where new services can be delivered quickly, easily and securely using a wide range of business models and partners. The Forum provides how-to guidance to both business and technical audiences who need to rapidly design, implement, operate and monetize digital services with partners in extended value chains.

Digital Disruption

Enterprise class APIs are part of the best practices toolkit to enable faster, lower cost interfaces that enable innovation across industries. In order to meet these challenges, TM Forum has been working with the world’s largest service providers and suppliers to develop APIs that enable the open digital ecosystem and provide critical management functionality to digital services that rely on multiple partners and systems operating in a complex value chain.

By following the lifecycle of an IoT digital service, this workshop presents the tools for managing the adoption, partnering, data management, analytics, security and privacy, and much more that is required for the successful implementation of an IoT digital services ecosystem.

1st Column Monday

Outcome: This workshop will provide delegates with an end-to-end view of launching an Internet of Things service in an ecosystem, and demonstrate how TM Forum best practices, tools, blueprints and models enable success.

Internet of Things digital services lifecycle: Anatomy of an ecosystem

2:00 PM
Moderator:
Craig Bachmann - Director Industry Initiatives, TM Forum

This workshop follows the lifecycle of an Internet of Things-based digital service (for example wearables, connected home or smart city) and the essential elements of an ecosystem approach. It will introduce the critical components of a digital service/ecosystem scenario, including a focus on B2B2X, privacy, partnering, and digital experience/metrics.

Interactive activity: Attendees will have the opportunity to design a business canvas that identifies critical roles, dependencies and gaps, and take away a working model.

Internet of Things digital services lifecycle: Following the data

3:45 PM
Moderator:
Craig Bachmann - Director Industry Initiatives, TM Forum

This workshop continues with the ecosystem scenarios in the first session and ‘follows the data’ to identify key challenges and actions needed to define and implement a successful digital service in an ecosystem. Focus areas will include data analytics, common language, APIs, security and measurement.
